VIP is a pledge to our eligible VIP installers that says:
ATK pledges to the eligible VIP installer that any ATK gasoline engine or automatic transmission purchased after the program start date will be covered against failure due to installation error or subsequent vehicle component failure providing the vehicle is being repaired at the original installation facility and the original ATK warranty is still in effect.
VIP covers all the first product failure not covered under the original ATK warranty that are a result of an installer error or subsequent vehicle component failure. Examples of covered failures are: Detonation, Dry start, Thrust bearing failure, Contamination, Ingesting debris or foreign objects, Overheating.
Causes of failure that are not covered include but are not limited to: Lack of maintenance, Racing or any competition use, Off-highway use, Acts of God (floods, etc), Accident, Incorrect application or misuse, Second or subsequent same cause failures previously covered in the same vehicle, Unauthorized repairs of any kind, Freight damage. Eligible installers are licensed repair facilities within the United States purchasing at the Jobber level and in Good Standing*.
The Installer will be required to: Fulfill certain minimum standards of installation, Supply the vehicle owner with the ATK Owner's Manual and maintenance requirements,and to perform the break-in service as described in the ATK Owner's Manual.
In case of failure, the installer may be required to: Submit the original installation repair order, Provide the product's maintenance record, and work with an ATK service technician in performing whatever work is needed in order to determine the correct diagnosis and repair procedure. Payment follows the same terms as outlined under the original warranty. All gasoline powered engines and automatic transmissions are covered under the VIP. Diesel engines are not included.
Parts Payments: ATK authorized repairs will have parts reimbursed at the original purchase price. Proof of purchase may be required. Fluid and filter costs will be reimbursed for the first 2,000 miles of service, on approved claims only.
It is ATK's feeling that Fleet Customers are specialists on specific vehicles and therefore qualified to receive special consideration under the VIP Program. However, because the fleet mechanic is not a licensed facility and does not bear the cost associated with this type of business, labor rates for Fleet VIP claims will be limited to the mechanic's actual wage.
*Good Standing refers to installers who have not, in ATK's sole discretion, abused the program by having an inordinate amount of claims under the VIP program or whose accounts with ATK are delinquent. Installers not in Good Standing will be informed by mail and at the time of the next purchase.
